Macmillan subsequently issued most of her books, including her foundational novel of the Pacific Northwest, “Mariella, of Out-West,” which reviewers compared to novels by Jane Austen, Leo. Designed by Dr. Laffrado's research assistant, the display also contains two books by Higginson, a collection of short stories titled From the Land of the Snow Pearls () which features her most popular poetry, short stories and excerpts from Mariella of Out-West and her travel book Alaska, the Great Country ().
